DIVINELY QUEER: MY JOURNEY TO SPIRITUALITY THROUGH SEXUALITY

Jennifer Miracle-Best has a passion for helping people to understand the intricacies of sexual and gender identity.

Formerly the Director of the LGBT Resource Center at The University of Georgia, Jennifer worked in student affairs for 13 years before leaving academia to pursue her dreams of reaching a broader audience with her personal story and her ability to engage people in difficult conversations. Between her lived experiences and her educational and professional background, Jennifer has been praised for her disarming approach to meeting people where they are and helping them to broaden their perspective.
It was this diplomacy that enabled her to grow the LGBT Resource Center at The University of Georgia from a quiet, one-person office to a thriving, fully-staffed, and highly visible student-led operation that provided weekly programming and hosted campus-wide events that were recognized by the Office of Student Life with outstanding programming awards. Jennifer hopes to continue to use her gifts to contribute to the dawning of a world where everyone is able to be their authentic self, regardless of their various identities - even because of their various identities, while feeling safe, and loved.

Educational Workshops

LGBTQ...LMNOP! Learning Your Queer Alphabet

This session is a great opportunity for learning the basics of gender and sexuality. In it, we define sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation and identity, and explore the fluidity of these identities as well as their intersection with each other and with one's other various identities. This session can also be customized to include an assessment of the climate of your campus or organization as it pertains to the experiences of LGBTQ people.

All You Really Need to Know About Transgender Identity

For many, the concept of transgender identity is incredibly hard to get our mind around. As humans, we tend to overanalyze and focus on things that really don't concern us when it comes to our differences. This session will help you to understand all you really need to know when it comes to understanding trans identity and providing a safe and inclusive space for our trans and gender non-conforming friends and loved ones.

Making Our Private Parts, Private

A session that examines the ways in which our government reinforces the rigid roles associated with gender through systematic regulations based on one’s sex assigned at birth. Additionally, this session explores the opportunities for various kinds of liberation through the small, yet radical, initiative to make one’s sex assigned at birth a classified piece of health information.

LGBTQ and U

A look at sexual and gender identity through the lens of leadership and the impact sexism, heterosexism, and homophobia can have on all people in the work place.

Illuminating Our Blind Spots

An interactive session exploring the concept of invisible identities and personal and institutional blind spots when it comes to serving all people.

Transforming Passion Into Action
